Call for Lehigh Valley Photographers!

I am currently working on research for my master's thesis, which currently has me collecting a set of what I consider iconic images from well-known (iconic) punk show photographers spanning the past three decades. I am also interested connecting with upstarts in punk rock photography. I plan to do a social/historical analysis of a select group of photos, e.g. how they fit into the larger context of the regional history and culture of the Lehigh Valley.

I would like to do interviews (in person where possible, but phone and email will suffice) with whoever is willing. In addition to interviewing photographers, if there are others out there that have something they would like to offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

So far, Rich Gensiak and Frank Pearn have contributed and continue to assist me in this effort that I hope will provide a unique record of Lehigh Valley punk rock social history through visual images.

This is the list of photographers that have been suggested so far:

Jen Chappell
April Bartholomew
Rosemarie Pratka
Jessica Baer
Chumpire Fanzine (I assume several photographers involved in this?)
Maxx Foxx
Trevor Lanning
Kevin Shire
Erica Mohr (Evans)
Ken Ek

If anyone would like to add to this list, please comment or email me. I don't want to leave anyone out. Also, if you are on the list and would like to be involved I would love to speak with you!

  1. I'm adding the late Tom Short to this list! Thanks to Cody, who I will hopefully be able to interview about his dad's work. I remember Tom taking tons of photos back in the 90's, but I understand he was doing photography since at least the 70's if not earlier.

  2. Thanks to Jen Chappell and Erica Mohr who are giving their support and are willing to share photos for this project! I'm still interested in contacting others that are on this list or who should be. Please send me an email or comment if anyone has suggestions or idead about this or any other part of the project. So far the response has been great!
